Devoiler is the brainchild of Nisha Loyalka, a fashion designer who has achieved multiple global recognitions for her unique designs and creativity. Her goal was to create a brand that would not only showcase the beauty of Indian traditional clothing but also provide job opportunities to the underprivileged handcraft workers of Kolkata.
Nisha's journey began with a simple desire to use her love for fashion to make a difference in the world. She was deeply moved by the plight of the underprivileged handcraft workers in Kolkata and was determined to do something to help.
Traditional Craftsmanship combined with modern beauty

Every piece of clothing from Devoiler is handcrafted by skilled workers, who come from humble backgrounds.

She knew that traditional Indian textiles and clothing were steeped in history, craftsmanship, and beauty, but that these artisans were struggling to make a living. She knew that if she could create a brand that would provide them with a sustainable livelihood, she would be able to help them change their lives for the better.
So, Nisha set out to create Devoiler, an Indian ethnic wear brand that would be built on the foundation of traditional Indian textile techniques. The brand name Devoiler, which means 'to reveal' in Hindi, was chosen to reflect her goal of revealing the hidden talents and skills of the artisans in Kolkata.

Milestones

Devoiler is more than just a clothing brand, it is a social enterprise that is committed to supporting the local community in Kolkata and providing sustainable livelihoods for the underprivileged.
2017
Devoiler is founded by Nisha Loyalka with a goal to provide job opportunities to the underprivileged handcraft workers of Kolkata and showcase the beauty of Indian traditional clothing.
2018
Devoiler launches its first clothing line which includes designer lehengas & goans for women and kurta pyjamas & sherwanis for men, all of which are handcrafted by the skilled artisans in Kolkata. The brand receives positive feedback from customers and starts to gain a lot of traction.
2019
Devoiler expands its product line and opens its first physical store in Kolkata. The brand is featured in multiple fashion blogs, magazines and social media platforms, and continues to grow its customer base.
2020
Devoiler faces challenges due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The brand has to temporarily close its physical store and shifts its focus to online sales. Despite the challenges, Devoiler continues to support the local community in Kolkata and adapts to the new normal by pivoting into manufacturing masks.
2021
Devoiler continues to navigate the challenges of the pandemic and focuses on building a stronger online presence. The brand launches a new collection that is well received by customers and continues to grow its customer base.
2022
Devoiler reaches its 5-year milestone and looks back on its journey with pride. Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic, the brand has been able to adapt and continue to support the local community in Kolkata. The brand continues to innovate and expand its product line, with plans to open more physical stores in the future.
